At the end of this course, students should be able to design and manage large relational databases through object relational modelling and the optimization of the physical schema and the SQL queries. Students will also be able to deal with concurrency in database transactions.
Syllabus: Physical schema and database tuning. Storing and indexing data. Query execution and optimisation. Modelling in object-relational databases. Recover and replication. Concurrency.
