TG experiment of CuSO₄.xH₂O:

Heating from 30 ºC to 200 ºC at a heating rate of 5 K/min:

DSC study of 2,7-diphenylfluorenone:

The molecule of 2,7-diphenylfluorenone. The solid is bright yellow at ambient temperature but it gradually turns orange as it is heated above 160 ºC. Is it due to a solid-solid transition or another phenomenon? Let's find out by DSC!

DSC thermogram of 2,7-diphenylfluorenone:

a) as a function of time (above)

b) as a function of temperature and with peaks integrated (below)

Isoperibol mini-bomb combustion calorimetry

Calibration of the calorimeter with benzoic acid (Calorimetric Standard NIST 39j):

a) experimental curve of T(calorimeter) = f(time) (above)

b) calculation of the adiabatic temperature change, Del Tad, due to the combustion reaction; the image shows the parameters obtained from the fitting of the initial and final periods of the combustion experiment (below)

- Each student will make an oral presentation about one of the papers listed.

- The presentation must be focused on the thermal methodology described in the paper.

- The instructions for the oral presentation and template are shown below.

- You can access the .pdf file of the paper by clicking on the respective image.

- If a student is extremely unhappy with the paper selected, he/she can ask for a reroll (a new paper will be attributed and no more changes are allowed).
